NOI, Day 12

Something Interesting:
In the past 12 days, I have switched from a morning shower-taker to an evening shower-taker. It might have something to do with the sticky feeling one has at the end of a long day in this heat and humidity; I can't bring myself to put on pajamas before showering. But it also helps me unwind at the end of the day, and then makes my morning routine much quicker, so it's a win-win.

Something Funny:
{in octet rehearsal}
Rachel: Could we try that scale again? I noticed the cellos had their eyes closed; maybe we could all close our eyes and try to listen better.
Maki {joking}: My eyes weren't closed; I'm just Asian.

Something Sweet:
Did I mention that my husband is the best? Back when I was preparing to make the drive to NOI, he decided that he didn't feel good about me driving myself from Boston to Maryland.

{He also didn't feel good about me leaving for a month, of course.}

So he bought himself a ticket from Baltimore to Boston.

And drove with me from Boston to Baltimore.

So he could catch his flight back to Boston.

That's love, people.

He was good company on the long drive. He drove some and let me sleep. We talked about life. We held hands and felt rather acutely that a month is too long to be apart.

It was indeed too long, which I suppose is what prompted his visit yesterday and today. Tonight he headed back to Boston.

{I miss him already.}
