A Growing Family

There are some things you just shouldn't spring on people as a total surprise. For example, if you've recently gotten married and your in-laws are coming to visit for your husband's senior recital, you might not want to wait until they arrive to let them know that there's been a new addition to the family since they saw you last.

I know that there are good ways and not-so-good ways of breaking important news to people. That's why I'm writing this blog post now. Because FavoriteBoy's parents sometimes read this blog, and after reading this post, the news of our expanding family won't be such a shock when they come visit.

Yes, it's true: after just a few months of happy marriage, we wanted something more. Another little life with whom to share our happy home. And so it was that about a month ago, I visited...

...the pet store.

Please welcome Poseidon, our handsome beta fish.

  1. umm....and, let me not fail to mention that this new addition is LAAAAAZY. We think he's probably going to die soon, because he won't even trouble himself to swim to the top of the tank to eat. Ever. In fact, he doesn't move at all. Reminds me of Dale the Whale from a Monk Episode. For you Bible buffs, he's like old Abraham... "As good as dead" Even when I umm...tap on the glass with my ring...no results. Oh well. At least he's blue.

  2. You should do some reading on beta fish, they sit for long periods of times almost looking dead, but really they can take quite a beating and live to tell about it. I think you'll have him awhile! Congratulations by the way! Oh yeah, I can tell you took the picture Sarah, I see your hair line in the bowl! :)

  3. Betas really are such pretty fish! I've thought about getting one, but they just look so lifeless I didn't want to keep walking by it and wondering - did it die and I didn't even notice?
