Knitting

I've really been wanting to learn to knit for a while now. Maybe when I finish my master's degree this May I'll have some time to sit down and learn. I think I need someone to teach me, though; the patterns are, for all intents and purposes, in a foreign language indecipherable to those not already in the know about knitting.

Well, today my eight-year-old violin student Elaine told me that she's recently knitted a hat, and some hand puppets, and tiny gnomes, and all manner of other items.

And then I felt pretty unaccomplished.

Sheesh, kids. Limitless potential and all that.

  1. I would love to show you how to knit! It's so much fun and very easy once you get the hang of it. I'm no expert (still call my mum every once in a while to decipher a pattern), but for the most part I can learn a regular pattern. We should get together on a chilly Saturday morning or something...coffee, something yummy and knitting. A perfect start the weekend...in my opinion :)

  2. @ Cara - I would LOVE to do that! Perhaps I should even try to start with a baby blanket unless that's too difficult. ;)

@ Emily - yes, I have three private students who attend the same nearby Waldorf school and I have to say I tend to be pretty impressed by what I hear of it.
